It is curious; the other day I was talking to my brother on what is the reason or the motives of why news on TV are 90% sad. Can happiness be news? More over when suddenly it goes out the news that there is the saddest day of the year… This is too much of sad news! Sadness itself has its space on the news program. In fact, there’s this man, a British psychologist that has created the concept of Blue Monday, a certain Cliff Arnall who through a math formula got that the saddest day of the year is precisely TODAY!!! (A study published in 2005 stated that the third Monday of the calendar is the saddest day of the year).
This is a crazy thing to me, but well, I have not said the whole thing, just listen to this! With the purpose of dismounting this theory and stop sadness and pessimism this news generates, the Canary Islands brand has launched the #StopBlueMonday initiative to show that in a place like the Canary Islands such theory does not apply. I just applaud this campaign by many reasons. Because I love the Canary Islands, because I love how they transmit their brand and because they are a clear example that they have the spark necessary to be disruptive and see things from other angle. Here I post the video of the campaign that pleasantly surprised me:
This is not all, the action is visible through the website www.stopbluemonday.com. This way the user is encouraged to create online posters against sadness, positive messages like “Even enjoy the blue Mondays”, “Always look on the bright side of life” or “Infect smiles to enjoy”. The movement against the negative influence on the mood of people is already active on social media with the hashtag #stopbluemonday. I’m very glad that happiness has won over sadness with the StopBlueMonday campaign, since my human and professional side have agreed to enjoy this great idea.[:]
